Because We Care!
Credit Unions are built on the philosophy of "People Helping People," and CDC FCU strives to uphold this message by being an active member and partner of our community. Because We Care is a community-based outreach program built on the standards of growth, compassion and empowerment. Specifically, the program allows us to help those who are in need of educational, volunteer, or financial support. It is important to CDC FCU that we help serve those in our direct community of North Atlanta.
Because We Care is a unique way we can spread the "CDC FCU message" to members of the community, various volunteer organizations, governmental figures, media outlets, and even the general public.
Some opportunities for community efforts include playground builds, elderly assistance, charity walks and more. Whether you're passionate about running a 5K or assisting with repairs, CDC FCU has an event scheduled, which needs your help!
Serving the Community:

CDC Federal Credit Union volunteers joined in on efforts of revitalizing and strengthening the Dunwoody, GA community on March 14, in partnership with the North Atlanta Church of Christ’s Annual Serve Day event. This is the first year Serve Day has focused specifically on the city’s projects since its establishment in 2008.
CDC FCU walkers participated in an effort to raise awareness and money for the March of Dimes’ annual WalkAmerica event. The walk consisted of a five-mile radius at Centennial Olympic Park. The CDC FCU team raised funds by selling sneaker cutouts and by collecting donations.
CDC FCU is a long-standing supporter of Children's Miracle Network: Credit Union's for Kids. Through fundraising efforts in 2008, CDC FCU raised over $14,000 for this non-profit organization. Funds are given to programs such as cancer treatments, cardiology, neonatal care, orthopedics and transplant services to hospitals like Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA).
CDC Federal Credit Union launched the start of a new community service program called, “Because We Care” in early 2007. To continue its message of strengthening the community, CDC FCU volunteers “camped-out” for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) on Monday, December 8.
In partnership with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Chapter of the Federal Managers Association (FMA), CDC FCU organized a golf tournament, which resulted in over $10,000 being raised for academic scholarships.
CDC FCU employees “adopted” a home for the 5th Annual MLK, Jr. Service Project. The project directly helps fixed or low-income senior citizen homeowners in the Decatur, Georgia community by contributing building supplies and professional services for home repairs and yard work.
